What is RAG?
Raise and Give is the University-wide charity and fundraising society and the central hub for all fundraising events in Oxford. Annually we raise over £150,000 for four charities elected by the whole student body, with a huge variety of events ranging from Jailbreak to the RAG Ball.
How can students get involved in the charity?
There’s loads of different ways to get involved, from becoming a RAG Casino Croupier and getting into balls for free, to running for one of our committee positions and really getting stuck in running one of RAG’s events. If you’re interested in getting involved we always need more people to help run our events!
I see that this year RAG are teaming up with Oxford Fashion Society to host the OU RAG Fashion Show. Can you tell us a bit about the event?
To suit the taste of Oxford students, we would love people to recognise the Oxford University RAG Fashion Show not as a ‘sit-down-and-watch’ Fashion Show, but rather as one big party – in terms of current Oxford events, its closest equivalent is an Oxford Black Tie Ball.
With no tables and no traditional catwalk, the models will be walking among the crowds, up the stairs and around the balconies that make up the incredible venue we have secured. Meanwhile, guests will be dancing the night away to live music from DFO and Garfunkel and student DJs – they will have begun the evening with a champagne reception and live jazz. Drinks are free all night and guests are encouraged to explore the incredible venue space.
When is the event going to be held?
The event is being held on 2nd March at the architecturally award-winning Blavatnik School of Government on Walton Street. It’s truly breath-taking, and has been designed to optimise musical acoustics for great live performances.
