A night at the theatre is one of my favourite activities but one which hasn’t been on the agenda for the last 18 months, so I couldn’t wait to set foot back in the auditorium and witness the magic that only comes with seeing the cast live on the stage!
Oxford New Theatre is always a treat and it felt so good to return to watch Blood Brothers.
It has been one of my favourite shows since my teens; the combination of emotion, a gripping story line, funny one-liners and captivating music made it a show I have returned to again and again.
We enjoyed lovely drinks in the Piano Bar, followed by a spectacular performance from a cast exuding energy, charisma and voices which touched you in a way only a live performance can. They held our attention throughout and we were truly absorbed in every scene. Lyn Paul owned the show in her role as Mrs Johnstone, capturing us from beginning to end and, as she balled her eyes in those final scenes, so did we.
