Opera Cafe - Jericho

TOG Team #invited

The Opera Café in Jericho is a small, cosy café just a five-minute walk from the centre of Oxford, and we were lucky enough to be gifted a brunch there. The staff were so hospitable, welcoming us with some sweet treats as we sat down, and talking us through the menu: there was everything you could possibly want from a brunch, with something for everyone. I went for the Eggs Royale, my go-to for a breakfast dining out; I don’t think I’ve ever had eggs poached so perfectly! The presentation was incredible too – none of us could resist taking hundreds of pictures of the food as it was brought out! The meal was rounded out with a very decadent dessert (for 10am on a Wednesday!) – I went for an incredibly indulgent salted caramel brownie that was absolutely delicious. I’m a sucker for anything salted caramel flavoured anyway, but that really was something amazing! The atmosphere was so lovely; cosy, friendly and warm, and made for the perfect spot to grab good brunch with good friends.

We enjoyed a lovely brunch which was both tasty and aesthetically great for the insta feed. I was especially impressed by the avo toast which came with a side of avo! One can never have too much avo! I will 100% be returning soon to sample some of the other menu offerings which all sounded delicious.

I was in need for a pick-me-up on that day, and the Opera Cafe did the trick marvellously! The cafe itself is a very cosy place, the staff working there is really nice and ready to help. The menu looks way too appetising, hence why it took me a good few minutes to decide on one of the avo + poached egg toasts. It was delicious, with a lot of smooth and tasty avocado and the egg was perfectly cooked. I also had a fresh orange and apple juice, and it was very refreshing and nice.

I was delighted to go for an amazing brunch in Opera Café. It's such a quaint spot in Jericho, one of the nicest areas in Oxford which feels quite "hipster" and "trendy"! We enjoyed some baclava and delicious coffees on arrival, and then each of us ordered a brunch - mine was Eggs Royale and it was delicious! After that, we were treated to a dessert, and most of us chose the salted caramel brownie which, frankly, was to die for! It was an amazing outing, thank you for the invitation!

We were welcomed with very upbeat staff. The cafe was decorated with flowers on the table, and we had six little baklavas on the table to start eating. All of the crockery was decorated with colourful patterns, adding to the general vibrancy of the cafe. Our coffee and brunch was scrumptious and tastefully arranged. In particular, my scrambled eggs were made even tastier with the smashed soft boiled eggs added into the scrambled eggs themselves. The staff greeted us with big smiles and offered dessert, recommending the salted caramel brownie. Unsurprisingly, I am very glad that I followed the recommendation, as the brownie was dense, rich, and incredibly moreish. Peri Heaton

I ordered the coconut milk matcha latte and it is hands down the most amazing matcha latte I have ever had. They have a huge variety of non-dairy milk so its amazing if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant like me! The matcha latte was also really pretty and instagrammable! I ordered the smoked salmon with eggs and it is a very generous portion and the sourdough was toasted to perfection. Opera cafe were also generous enough to give us all baklavas and they were also amazing! At the end when we were all thoroughly stuffed they offered us dessert and they not only had a range of gluten free but also vegan options. I opted for the vegan and gluten free peanut butter chocolate tart and it felt super indulgent but it was actually pretty healthy! So all in all a wonderful experience and fair to say I am definitely coming back! 10/10 and would highly recommend!
