On Friday I was lucky enough to enjoy the most amazing 'LP Pink T’, swinging 60s Afternoon Tea in honour of 50 years of Laurent-Perrier’s Cuvée Rosé, at The Orangery Blenheim Palace.
Blenheim really is just on the doorstep of Oxford city and it is well worth a visit. Not only did I indulge in the most delicious food and drink but I also had the opportunity to explore the Palace and grounds.
My mum and dad joined me for what was a fab family day out! The stunning architecture, breathtaking gardens and lakeside views meant wandering around the exterior alone was a dreamy way to enjoy a summer's afternoon and then we were invited to head inside..
Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family and the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace's interior is a truly awe-inspiring place to visit. With its Baroque architecture, glistening chandeliers, historic libraries, opulent state rooms and striking art, you could get lost in it for days...but, alas we had a tea party to attend, one which we certainly didn't want to miss!
It was a tea fit for a king (or in Blenheim's case a Duke!). The Orangery overlooks the Duke of
Marlborough’s private Italian Garden and as we sipped our champagne and tucked into our scones, we were mesmerised by the stunning views. The Orangery itself really has the wow factor - with high ceilings, chandeliers, sunlight streaming through the ceiling and orange trees adorning the room, it was such a treat to dine here, whilst also maintaining a relaxed vibe.
Inspired by the swinging 60s, we tucked into a quirky take on a traditional afternoon tea:
Prawn cocktail layered mille feuille and spiced pineapple upside down cake were served alongside sweet treats in all shades of pink, from the opulent Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé jelly, to strawberry macarons and battenberg cake, as well as traditional English scones – all accompanied by a glass of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé .
It was all beautifully presented (so Instagrammable!) and tasted unreal! A perfect mix of sandwiches, pastries, scones, cakes and puddings - we were fit to burst! I must add that their gluten free afternoon tea was fantastic - something which many restaurants struggle with.
The Swinging 60s Afternoon Tea is a brilliant choice for any special occasion you have on the horizon; it's also the perfect place for when the 'parents are in town' and you want to show off the beauty of Oxfordshire and enjoy a family day out!
I'd encourage any of you guys based in Oxford to head outside of the city and explore this stunning Grade I listed building for yourself and if you’re coming from elsewhere in the UK or overseas, it really is a must-see!
We were blown away by the beauty of Blenheim and we're still dreaming of the pink palette that awaited us in The Orangery...
